Objectives:
Objectives of the study of the art of classical
bharatnayam dance at Antara Nritya Niketan are:
- To maintain and raise the standard of the Bharatnatyam
dance, including
its technical aspect, exhibition and tradition.
- To collect valuable material on folk forms, classical dances of
India.
- Study and research of traditional drama, classical & modem Indian
dances, Western dances and Asian dances.
- Study of Stage Craft - scenic design, stage lighting, theatre architecture,
costume design, make up.
- Effective use of voice & speech - Nattuvangam, stage music,
yoga, acrobatics, Karna Postures, miming.
- Study of different aspects of Indian art & culture.
- Advancement through appreciation courses and workshops on dance
and music.
The School also invites lecturers and dance experts from outside as
visiting faculty to guide the students. This guidance and their own interaction
in a very healthy atmosphere, propagates correct growth and adoption
to the basics of this art from the initial stages.
Working:
- Admissions are given for 4 years' course – Diploma
in Bharatanatyam - by group interview with the parents. Age
eligibility - 5 years complete.
- Admissions for 3 years' course are given on the recommendations
of the prior Dance School teacher.
- Admissions at Antara Nritya Niketan are open throughout the year.
Antara Nritya Niketan works Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays
from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. and from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Yearly holidays are
15th May to 1st June.
